用語集Glossary
A refundable deposit (shikikin) and a non-refundable payment to the landlord (reikin).
Shikikin is a security deposit, returned at move-out less any repair costs beyond normal wear. Reikin, or "key money", is a one-off payment to the landlord that isn't returned; it's less common than it used to be and often negotiable.
