岩手Tohoku
Iwate is the largest prefecture on Honshu, a wide sweep of highlands running from the castle town of Morioka to the temples of Hiraizumi and the folk-tale villages of Tono. A lot of its housing is rural and spread out, so a vacant house can go months without anyone looking at it.
Owners living overseas usually come to Iwate through an inheritance, a love of the countryside, or the ski slopes of Appi and Hachimantai. MonoHaus handles the regular visits, Japanese paperwork and local trades for them, and Morioka's shinkansen link to Tokyo keeps the prefecture within easy reach.

地域の特徴Local know-how
Morioka and the inland basins have some of the coldest winters in Honshu, even where snowfall is moderate. Drain-down and freeze protection are the first things we sort out when a house will stand empty through the winter.
Traditional magariya joined the family's living space and the stable under one roof. These big timber buildings need carpenters who know the work, and we find them for structural repairs, roofing and sills.
