火災・地震保険·Home Insurance

Covered for typhoons, fire and earthquakes.

Japanese home insurance is sold in Japanese, priced by building type and region, and harder to get for an empty house. We work with a wide network of brokers to find cover that fits your home, explain it in English, and handle the claim if something happens.

特長·What you get

Why owners choose us for home insurance.

  • Compared across brokers

We ask several brokers and insurers, then explain the options side by side in plain English.

  • The right cover for an empty house

Vacant and rarely used homes are treated differently by insurers. We find the ones that will cover yours properly.

  • Claims handled

After a storm or quake we inspect, photograph everything, deal with the adjuster and get the repairs quoted.

内容·What's included

What we take care of.

Choosing cover

  • Fire insurance (火災保険): fire, wind and typhoon, snow, water damage — and flood if your area needs it
  • Earthquake insurance (地震保険), added to the fire policy
  • Contents cover if the home is furnished
  • Checking your area's hazard map before choosing

Keeping it right

  • Renewal dates tracked and renewed on time
  • Premiums paid for you if you'd like
  • Cover reviewed after renovation, letting or a change of use

If something happens

  • Inspection and photos as soon as it's safe
  • Claim filed and the adjuster met on site
  • Repairs quoted with photos for your approval

料金·Pricing

You pay the insurer, not a markup.

Premiums go to the insurer at their published rate. We'll tell you up front if anything we do for you carries a charge.

Home insurance — questions

Can I get earthquake insurance on its own?
No. In Japan earthquake insurance is only sold together with a fire insurance policy, and it covers up to half of the fire policy's amount (with caps of ¥50 million for the building and ¥10 million for contents). Because the rates are set on a shared national basis, earthquake premiums are much the same between insurers — fire cover is where the choice matters.
Can I insure a vacant house (akiya)?
Usually yes, but not every insurer will, and an empty home may be rated differently from one that's lived in. Regular visits and good records help. We know which insurers in our broker network take vacant and rarely used homes.
Do I need to be in Japan to take out a policy?
No. We arrange it with the broker, explain the documents in English, and can pay the premium for you each year. You'll get copies of everything in your dashboard.
